Company sucks…. I do feel that a new driver should get experience first and lease purchasers vs owner operator is a weird beef 😂 we both have to pay for the truck gas and maintenance…. We just connected with a company for finding loads…. And you can decide where you want to go and what load you want… that’s way better than a standard company driver… it’s a gateway to being owner operator and yes WALKAWAY IS the best option…..

I dropped out of trucking school after a week At 66 it sounded like a lot to deal with. They told me they were aa christian based company to make it sound more inviting but that didnt mean shit. they were up front about all the things to expect. I didnt want to worry about that stuff at this point in my life. If I could just do daily runs or something like that I would of stuck with it. It would of been a blast to drive under simpler conditions. My budddy was home every night did local runs if that exists anymore

Owner operator through a lease tethered to a single company is a guarantee of a losing deal.

The biggest lie is about pay expectations. Ask how mileage is figured and use some basic math skills to figure possible outcome.

I gave over 3 years of my life to trucking that I will never get back. Missed 3 years of my kid growing up, lost most of my friends, and almost got divorced. The pay isn't worth living in a box and having your life controlled by some dipshit behind a desk. Imagine having to ask for permission to go home for a few days out of the month for a place you pay for lol.

I definitely needed this positivity because I have been hearing a lot of negative things from negative people

So what is a fair % of load to negotiate as newbie or as veteran? If you don’t own the truck, who’s insurance pays for accident if one happens? A drivers PERSONAL insurance covers accident, not company? What liability does company have?

I can’t understand it when I see guys sitting this low when driving the truck, especially with the tall shifter! I raise the seat way up so I’m sitting up high and I can see everything!

Who was this other lying truck driver making RUclips videos saying he’s an O/O? I only watch about 2 truck driving RUclipsrs.

Something I can’t figure out is when I see people going through LONG truck driving schools. I just went down to the DMV and took the CDL test. Then I got hired, got put with a trainer for a few weeks, and was off and running. The whole process took wayyyyy less time than truck driving school.

What i dont get is why any new driver would belive a driver manager or dispatcher when profits over people is always the way of it lowest man on the totem loses but if you get into this industry with a plan and realistic expectations then you should be fine

I drove for 20 years and so has my father wen he was alive I also have a brother that still drives the industry was awesome to our whole family it just depends on who you drive for I was in the teamsters union for years with a decent retirement would have been even better had I stayed so ya it depends on what company you drive for and weather they are union or not so it all depends on who you talk to bottom line.

Brother, this list is…SPOT ON! Let me give you a quick story. I was working for a Swift Transportation in 2018 and they blessed me with a brand new truck that only had 3 miles on it. I Kenworth T6 80. I went to Colorado and I got pulled into that scale that you’re talking about and the guy had an attitude and gave me a level two went about 30 or 40 miles down the road and got pulled into another Colorado scale and got a level three. I told the guy at the second scale I just got a level two down the road. Said that was down the road. This is me. I told myself after that, I won’t be delivering anything to Colorado. A lot of truck drivers don’t like going into Colorado.

Schneider promised me 12 out and 2 home. Their own employees laughed and told me they lied to me. I'm happy to have found a local job hauling woodchips to a local pellet mill.

I rem20 years ago I went to Andrus Transportation in Utah, to their orientation. I was referred by the Mormon Church of LDS, and Jim and Doug are Mormon Bishops. Before orientation was even over Jim Junior was barking at me likeva foul mouthed dog, talking trash and ordering me around. Later after I was laid off after about two years (it was a local position in Denver) they lied and said I "quit" so they wouldn't have to pay Unemployment. Then Utah doubled the amount and billed me $16,000. Is it any wonder why I have such an inborn hatred fir Mormons? I have never been able to get over it.

Dude you hit every nail (point) square on the head. I started driving right after 9/11/2021 and never say to your dispatcher you don't like to go to a certain city (for example) cause like you said you're going. I drove for another company doing flatbed out of Birmingham Alabama and they were LP and guess what yup they brokered loads. For those who don't know and i found this out the hard way. A broker load means that . They keep you broke. They take their $$ first plus the surfuel charge and anything else right off the top and leaving you with $0.00 - maybe a little over $1,000 and by the time you gotta take a percentage out for taxes,etc you're where you started with nothing IF NOT in the shithole. As for them "best fleets to drive for companies " I see the back of their trailers everyday. I'm not saying names but they are based out of Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska, and other states. I stay away from them and they are big major carriers.
